I am a 32-year-old Egyptian photographer who has spent 18 years living in the United Arab Emirates, a backdrop that has profoundly influenced my creative vision. My photography journey began in 2011, and since then, I have been dedicated to capturing stories that reflect human resilience, place, and emotion. Through each frame, I aim to portray the complexities of life, bringing attention to both the extraordinary and the everyday.

 

In 2015, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Cairo University, specializing in public relations and advertising, and graduated with honors. Despite my academic background, photography has always been the true driving force of my life. Over the years, I have honed my skills in various photographic genres, including street life, documentary, portraiture, and architectural photography, with each project strengthening my commitment to storytelling and visual exploration.

 

Throughout my career, I have achieved significant milestones, showcasing both my technical proficiency and my ability to communicate powerful narratives. In 2025, I had the privilege of seeing my work recognized on both national and international platforms. I won first place in the Ghaya Foundation for Creativity Photography Competition in Egypt, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, where I competed against more than 400 photographers. My work also earned me fourth place in the “Marrakech Heritage Through the Eyes of Youth” competition organized by ICESCO in Morocco, within the intangible heritage category, and third place in the Falakey competition for photography and creative arts. In addition, I was selected as a finalist in the Shining a Light Photography Contest and Exhibition at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. I also earned third place in the Fine Arts Competition, 11th edition, organized by El Horreya Center for Creation in Alexandria, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Development Fund of Egypt.

In 2025, I was also nominated for the CCFD-Terre Solidaire Photo Award, which celebrates photographers who shed light on social and environmental justice across the globe. Another major highlight of 2025 was being preselected for the URBAN ANIMALS project by Exhibit Around, a photography agency. My portfolio was chosen for inclusion in their official book and exhibition, which will culminate in a display at Trieste Photo Days 2025. I was also honored to be a finalist in the Dai Festival for Arts in Egypt, as well as in the Egypt Press Photo Exhibition.

 

In addition to these accolades, I was shortlisted for the RISE Africa 2025 Photography Competition: Where We Gather, a part of the RISE Africa Action Festival. One of my photographs was also selected to be featured in an artistic project organized by FES Egypt, focusing on documenting changes in access to food and water in Egypt. The work was published in an art book that situates the participating pieces within a broader socio-environmental context.

Finally, I was awarded second place in one of Pinterest’s creative challenges across the Arab world, further highlighting the versatility and reach of my visual storytelling.

These recognitions further affirm my ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of documentary photography, seeking out projects that give voice to untold stories and raise awareness on pressing social issues

 

In 2024, I also experienced recognition and success in several notable competitions. I was a finalist in the Face to Face Photography Project in Egypt by the Czech Centres Network, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, which focused on inspiring stories of individuals facing cancer. I was also a finalist in the Egypt Press Photo Exhibition, the Sard: Alexandria and Delta Exhibition by Photopia, and the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture & Arts Annual Competition. I won the Nile Flux competition, supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum Cairo in cooperation with EUNIC Egypt. Furthermore, my work was published in the Komplex - Kulturmagazin Innsbruck, an independent Austrian culture and arts magazine. I had the honor of displaying my work at The Photographic Gallery at the American University in Cairo.

 

Looking back at my career, I have received several recognitions that affirm my dedication to the craft. In 2019, I was a finalist for the Ian Parry Scholarship for photographers, a prestigious award for emerging talent. I was also recognized in the Best Shots of 2021 by FrstHand, and shortlisted for The Motive Collective for themes such as Silhouettes and Minimalism in 2021 and 2022. My work also received recognition in the UNESCO-UNEVOC Skills in Action Photo Competition, and I was awarded the Celebrity Award by ViewBug in 2019. I have seen success in multiple local photography competitions across Egypt, which has helped further my growth as an artist and storyteller.

 

As I continue my journey in photography, I remain focused on capturing the essence of the world around me, creating images that speak to the complexities of human existence, while exploring new ways to contribute meaningfully to the visual arts.
